Bit Description:
IADC: 517 – TCI journal sealed bearing bit with gauge protection for soft to medium soft formations with low compressive strength .
Compressive Strength:
85 – 100 MPA
12,000 – 14,500 PSI
Ground Description:
Medium hard and abrasive rocks such as sandstones with streaks of quartz, hard limestone or chert, hematite ores, hard, well-compacted abrasive rock such as: sandstones with quartz binder, dolomites, quartzite shales, magma and metamorphic coarse grained rocks.

9 7/8 inches(250mm) is a regular size in deep well drilling like oil and gas well drilling, and it is also a regular size in horizontal directional pilot hole drilling.
Depending on the cutting material, silicone rubber drill bits are available in TCI (carbide insert) and steel tooth types. iADC517 is a TCI type silicone rubber drill bit.

Bearing structure.
High precision journal bearing with two thrust surfaces, ball locking cone, hard surface of head bearing, cone bearing inlaid with friction reducing alloy and then silver plated, which effectively improves the wear resistance and galling resistance of the bearing and is suitable for high speed.

Sealing and lubrication.
The advanced metal seal package consists of two metal seals and two elastic stiffeners. The compression stiffeners ensure good contact between the two sealing surfaces of the metal rings through elastic force to achieve sealing of the bearings. In drilling, the metal seals are relatively dynamic while the stiffeners are static, which will improve the reliability and durability of the bearing seal, while the pressure compensation system and advanced grease can greatly improve the reliability of lubrication.
